Cardiopulmonary Exercise Test (CPET) /
Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) Clinic

In March 2017, CVS started performing the procedure Cardiopulmonary Exercise Test (CPET) with Pulmonary Function Test (PFT). This is a safe, non-invasive test that measures how well your heart and lungs function during exercise. This can help in detecting early stages of heart disease before you have complications.

A PFT measures the airflow in your lungs, the maximum voluntary ventilation and pulmonary circulation assessment. A combined CPET and PFT is the most accurate non-invasive test to assess heart and lung function at rest as well as during exercise. The test is performed a stationary bike instead of a treadmill to ensure less stress on your joints and for safety and balance difficulties. The test can determine how long a patient's life expectancy can be. Most people are able to perform a CPET and PFT without complications unless you are unable to walk or stand.
